PART A T present are many contrasting cultures in the United States. Many families have relocated here over the years. Today I completed an observation of a Haitian family, who has lived here in Maryland for the past 8 years. I observed the mother named Daphne jump on 34 and her daughter age 7. I arrived at their home on Saturday morning @12pm. I paid close attention to the baby birds fashion when I arrived. Per my request Daphne who is a co-worker of mine did not inform anyone that I would be conducting this observation. I was introduced simply as her co-worker. Daphne and I sat in the family fashion and behind us followed her 7 year ageing Dominique. erst all the courtly introductions were completed and we were settled, I began to focus on Dominique looking for the developmental norms for a 7 year old child. Dominique sat wholly at the computer performing a developmental specimen game. She appeared to be very focused on the screen. She then halt for one s econd and said warrant me MaMa Im going to the bathroom. I followed Dominique closely at this point observing her mannerisms, actions, looking for push, count, adaptive, social, and row skills. After beingness there for about 30 proceeding the sound of children receiveing removed began to ring thru the house.

With each sound at present Dominique became huffy and walked over to Daphne asking could she go alfresco and play. Her fine talking to were MaMa, Can I please go outside and play with my friends. This was the first demonstration of her language skills. She spoke clearly finespun and politely waiting patiently for her mothers response. The ratiocination to allow her to go outside was made once Dominique looked ! at me asking do you mind if we sit outside and understand her play. Once Dominique was completely bundled up the three of us headed for the door. This was a perfect opportunity for me to observe Dominiques social, motor and play skills.
